一、 簡介 Introduction
紙芝居源於日本江戶時代，1930年代成為日本的庶民娛樂。芝居，在日文漢字中是「戲劇」的意思，「紙芝居」，就是借由紙人偶來演出的一種戲劇表演。現代的紙芝居，則運用平面紙卡來取代紙人偶，將角色、場景直接繪製於紙卡中，再於紙芝居的舞台上做演出。

Kamishibai is originated
from Edo Period in Japan, and it was to entertain people during the 1930s. Kamishibai in Japanese means drama, and its drama shows present with paper
puppets. Modern Kamishibai makes use of characters and settings drawn
on the paper, and have story shows on the stage of wood case.
近年來，這一種原為日本民間的表演藝術被廣泛的運用在幼兒園的說故事活動和學科教學上。在台灣的閱讀推廣活動上，許多教師、故事媽媽與志工，也援用日本紙芝居來說故事。但限於語言與文化的隔閡，對於紙芝居的認識，易將它誤認為「看圖說故事」，甚而逕以「看圖說故事」的方式來操作，不能發揮紙芝居的戲劇效果。
Recent years, Kamishibai is applied to story-telling activities and
teachings, for example, many teachers and story-telling volunteers uses Kamishibai to promote reading. However, people
misunderstand Kamishibai is to tell a story by seeing the characters and settings drawn on
the paper because of the language and culture limits. So the drama effects of Kamishibai are not really developed.
